Tunga-tunga is the name of the beat of the Argentine popular music style called cuarteto. Cuarteto was born in the poor working class districts of Argentina's second city, Córdoba, in the 1940s. It began as the music of people that Eva Perón described as descamisados - the 'shirtless poor', and is now a thriving part of the Argentine cultural scene, like yerba, (see Paraguay), tango, cabezazo, milonga, and psychoanalysis.
